To be new

I’ve heard it from several people lately.
They say, “there are a LOT of coaches out there.”
And yes, we do seem to be numerous.
If you ask me for my qualifications, I’ll tell you I am trained and certified. I’ve been doing this work since 2022. And yes that means I’m still new.
I feel my newness in my bones.
But aside from my newness, I also feel my ability to connect with people, to hear through the noise of someone’s story, to relate yet challenge, and to help connect the dots in an otherwise scattered landscape of ideas, dreams and fears. To support people through to something more.
Learning to work with my newness has been a gift and a challenge I am grateful for. Because if I can’t tolerate being new at something, how can I support my clients who long for something new.
Here’s how I do it:
I see other coaches posting and the dozens of likes their posts get and feel bad for how few people I reach.
I post anyway and focus on feeling grateful for whoever I do connect with, even just 1 person.
TIP: I remember I’m on my own journey and connect with gratitude.
I see how lost I am in marketing and sales. The amount I need to learn is overwhelming.
I invest in myself and take classes in how to do this better.
TIP: Invest in and seek out opportunities to learn.
I imagine where I thought I’d be by now and feel bad for myself.
I remind myself that I’m actually OK. That I chose this. That I’m moving forward and that I have the power to change direction at any time.
TIP: I remember I’m the Director of this show thankyouverymuch.
While newness can bring up all kinds of insecurities, there’s also freshness, opportunity, possibility, and discovery here. Working with my own coach helps me remember that. And I’d love to do this for you, too.

New is waiting….. and it’s never as scary as we think. In fact, choosing new may be the most empowering choice you could make.
