Grassy

The other day I was walking our dog on the front lawn, bare foot. Somehow it always happens to me that I run outside to get the dog and end up walking her all over the lawn with no shoes on. It’s never my intention; I’m always uncomfortable stepping on our gravel walkway and I don’t like brining grass into the house.
It was a wet morning, so my feet were getting covered in grass. Yet I was walking on my tippy-toes as if that was going to keep my feet clean.
I saw how ridiculous I was being. My feet were already wet. I was going to have to clean them when I got inside. All this effort to tip toe around was not going to get me anywhere. So I stood there and allowed my full foot to be on the grass (gasp!). It was wet and uncomfortable. And then it was fine, nice even.
I allowed myself to be fully where I was. On the grass. Wet feet. Walking my dog.
I know this is small example, but it got me thinking about all the moments in life where we have one foot in and one foot out. Not committing to what is happening in front of us, as if our own resistance will somehow change reality.
When we step forward, all in, we get the chance to enjoy it, or at least experience it fully. The grass is wet – and it’s real. More of that pls.
